SciFi and Fantasy Art: Memento Mori

A visit with an old enemy. I like to think the leaves of the tree whisper snide comments to the smug looking gryphon.

Ink, colored with Tombow art markers and cleaned up a bit in Photoshop.

"Memento Mori"...remember that you are mortal, I'm pretty sure. I wan't to take latin so bad! I don't care if it's a 'dead language,' I still think it's cool. Nice pic by the way. *grin*

Hi again, Kathy!

This has always been one of my favorites of all the art you shared in WAPA. I have kept several folders of art from the years I was in WAPA, which includes numerous examples of your art. I rarely am able to "make a story" out of your art - what I see in someone's art is usually not what the artist originally intended.

I've taken the time today to go through all your art listed here. I'm glad I did, since I enjoy the quality and variety of your art so much. Just recently (today) went through an art book I have of Eyvind Earle (love his unusual landscapes - he worked for Disney during the 1950s and was responsible for the "look" of Sleeping Beauty) and also went through several Kinuko Craft books and calendar that I own.

For my tastes, I enjoy your art as much as I do Eyvind's and Kinuko's.

Take care...Jerry

Isn't there something else with this title too? Like a book or movie? I've never taken Latin and don't read many things outside of scientific words that are written in Latin, so it seems odd that I'd find this phrase familiar...
On to more important things...Beautiful pic, I love then goldness of the gryph. As cool as gryphs are though, I haven't been able to get too "in" to them, so I'll focus more on the rocks...They are very nice rocks, wonderful shading, and the way you have the tree rooted to the side seems so natural. An all around wonderful pic! ~Kay

Positively wonderful gryphon! His regal attitude is so evident, it just makes me want to bow to it. *bows to the great gryphon, then runs for my life* Great!
