SciFi and Fantasy Art: Erte Elf

This elvish sweetie's robe is a steal from Erte's seriagraph 'Faubourg St. Honore.' I always thought it looked like something a wicked queen or sorceress would wear, hence this drawing.

She reminds me of a book of 1920 paper dolls I have seen. They were all posed with their hands like that.

Beautiful stipping/inking, and she is quite evily gorgeous. I spy a dagger... *hehehehe* I'm going to take the dagger... 12

You are MAD, woman! How could you spend so much time doing all those iddy biddy dots! The picture is beautiful though, so I guess it was all worth it in the end.

I did an assignment for school in this style once before and man it does take forever. But it gives off the best detail for that fur.

Ok OMG I am in LOVE with this piece. I've already saved it to my harddrive for a reference, I hope you don't mind? I LOVE that robe and everything but her hair and her expression make her totally fabulously evil. She reminds me a lot of this character I'm currently roleplaying. God and that dagger IS sharp and perfectly crafted. Oooh and I like the robe. And have I mentioned the hair, I love the beads going through it.

I can't say enough about this piece. Only that it is one of my favorite on Elfwood. Sorry about this little blurb...Save Ferris is a little too cheery for me to listen to when commenting 2

Very interesting I like it. One hand gently excepts a white bird and in the other hand is held a black dagger. A contrast of feelings and thoughts exist within this work. The detail in the artwork adds to the feelings. I am personally left with a sense of deception burrowing in the mind of his dark looking character.

:-) Katherine J. Grantham replies: "Deception? Gosh, I thought I was being pretty open here. One should be left with a sense of the dagger burrowing into the dove... *grins with nasty sharp pointy teeth*"

Elegance...and evil - a compelling combination...

From a technique perspective, this piece just blows me away. I am in awe! 2

In agreement with above: Elegant but evil indeed! That sure is one classy robe, very sensual and that hair is magnificent!

Once again great inking and stipling. I seem to be particularly drawn to your inkworks it would seem.

What was the true size of this portrait? It must have been fairly large to get such extra-ordinary detail in the fur parts of the robe.
