Chalchiuhtquetzal, or Jade Feather, is a descendant of Quetzalcoatl in an alternate world (yeah, there's more of a story, but it doesn't belong here). She wears a gold and turquoise stylized shell emblem of Quetzalcoatl. In a more finished version her skin will be blue, feathered crest irridescent green, and in a full length picture she has two coiling serpent bodies in place of legs. This was just a sketch to get an idea of facial features and feather-hair.

Pencil, colorized in Photoshop.

that name...it sounds Mayan... where did you get it?

:-) Katherine J. Grantham replies: "I took Chalchiut from Chalchiutlicue, the Aztec goddess "Jade Skirt" (I probably should have used Chalchiutl) and Quetzal from Quetzalcoatl, which means "Quetzal-Bird Serpent" or more commonly, "Feathered Serpent." The language is Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs. A Google search on Nahuatl dictionary will get you links to lists of words in that language. Hope that helps!"

She's very snakey, as I'm sure you were going for. I can really tell that you know a lot about the aztecs. They personaly freak me out, but that's just me. Even without th bottom half of her body with the snakes, her eyes give away that there is something truly serpentine about. Did you create her? Or is she in actual legend?
